We will then divide the your yarn into 25g mini skeins.  You will receive a 25g skein of this yarn and three other different mini skeins (from yarn that other people in the swap have sent to us).

OR

You can purchase a skein or four of sock yarn from our shop and request it to be your skein for the Mini Skein Swap Along. You can notify us by leaving a note at purchase or through Etsy Conversation. We will divide that skein into 25g and you will receive a 25g skein plus another three different 25g skeins.

4. The more 100g balls you send us or skeins you purchase from our shop, the more mini skeins you will receive in the final shipment.  For example, if you send us or purchase four 100g hand dyed sock yarn, you will receive sixteen 25g skeins in your package.

5. Maximum number of 100g balls per membership is four.

LEARN TO KNIT A JUMPER CLASS: 'My First Jumper'

In keeping with our #yearofgarmentforme Knit Along (KAL) this class is designed to teach confident beginners and those who have been knitting for a while, how to complete their first jumper. Over 3 classes that span 5 weeks, we will commence knitting a top down basic raglan jumper, including how to take correct body measurements, how to choose the right size and the importance of swatching!

This class is not designed for complete beginners. It is expected that you are confident with knitting, purling, ribbing, increasing and decreasing stitches, knitting in the round, casting on and binding off. Knowing how to complete short rows would be an advantage, but not necessary.

Prior to the class you will be required to knit gauge swatches.  Instructions will be included with your booking.  Complete the jumper before the end of 2019 to be in the running for the #yearofthegarmentforme prize!

CLASS DATES:
Sunday March 24th (1-4pm), Sunday April 7th (2-4pm) and Sunday April 28th (2-4pm)
COST $195
LOCATION: Upstairs Room CWA Shop, Hobart, Tasmania

More details about the class can be found in our Ravelry Group
or on our Facebook page.

Do You Need a Knitting Cheer Squad? #yearofgarmentforme Knit Along KAL

Are you the sort of knitter that creates small knits or accessories, such as shawls, hats or mittens  but never knits a sweater, jumper or cardigan?  Do you want to commit to knitting yourself a sweater, cardigan or jumper this year? If your answer is yes to either question then we have the perfect KNIT-ALONG (KAL) for YOU; the  #yearofgarmentforme KAL.  We get it that many knitters are often scared of the commitment, both in time and cost to knitting garments. We want to form a  'cheer squad' as we all commit to 2019 being the  #yearofgarmentforme !  Sarah and I, at Bombed Yarns, are  hosting a KAL that will run ALL YEAR LONG, so that you have plenty of time to commit and complete a garment.   C ast on a sweater, jumper or cardigan to make a garment for yourself in 2019. We have set up a Ravelry support group to keep you motivated.   Sarah has cast on 'My Favourite Cardigan' by Georgie Nicolson of Tikki.  I have cast on the  'Rebel Rebel' cardig

5 Tips to Knitting Faster

Hello Yarn Friends... Do you want to learn to knit fasters so that you have more FFO's (fully finished objects)? Here at Bombed Yarns headquarters, we handdye quality yarn. We, therefore need to have samples and examples of the colourways we produce. There is a pressure to produce.  The faster we knit, the more samples we have.  It is inevitable we have looked at increasing our knitting speed.  It's probably fair to say that most of us knitters aspire to increase our knitting speed. Watch this great video clip from an Australian Country Women's Association Knitting competition: I, (Jan) have fond memories of attending one such competition.  As a small child, I watched my Aunt Maureen go up on stage at the Tasmanian CWA Knitting Speed Competition in the 70s, in the Albert Hall of Launceston. Aunt Maureen had churned out hundreds of jumpers (an Aussie term for 'sweater')  and was pitting herself against other fast Launceston knitters. She sat on a chair next
Welcome to Bombed Yarns & Merry Christmas yarn friends... We, Sarah and Jan, created Bombed Yarns in October 2017.  We specialise in handdyeing unique yarns and sewing knitting/crochet accessories. We are proud Tasmanians and have a soft spot for using our local ethical yarn called White Gum Wool. Bombed Yarns is most active on Instagram so join us there-  @bombedyarns and also on Facebook - Bombed Yarns. Some things though just can't go on Instagram/FB especially links and PDFs - so we will use this blog to be able to share those important extras.  Gift knitting gives us the warm fuzzies here at Bombed Yarns. Jan couldn't resist but gift knit her 8 year old son's elf a new scarf. Her 8yo, Tom has been besotted by his new elf, Fisbee and his antics since the elf teleported from the North Pole in early December. This is sure to make him Tom smile.  This knitted scarf is an easy, last minute knit to a bring a smile to a child's face.
